If You’re a Patient
First, you’ll be taken to your room or to a holding area for the procedure you’re having done. While you’re there, you will get a wristband with your name on it.
The nurses will come in and take your temperature and your blood pressure, just like they do at your doctor’s office. The doctors will come in and talk to you and your parents about what’s going to happen while you’re there.
When your test or surgery is done, you’ll be taken to your room on the children’s floor, where you’ll stay until your doctor says it’s okay to go home. Your parents can even stay there with you! Before you leave the hospital, a nurse will talk to you about certain rules you must follow when you go home — for example, you might not be able to eat anything but popsicles or jello for a day or two if you’ve had your tonsils removed.
No matter what brings you to our hospital, just remember that everyone here wants to help you feel better as soon as possible!
