La Porte Hospital Achieves Magnet Status from American Nurses Credentialing Center
La Porte Hospital proudly announces that the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) awarded La Porte Hospital a Magnet Designation. This is one of the highest designations that can be received for outstanding achievements in nursing services highlighting a commitment to excellence. La Porte Hospital is similar to other Magnet hospitals in the following areas: high patient satisfaction rate, excellent RN to patient ratio, a low rate of hospital acquired infections, falls, medication errors, related complications, and low RN turnover rates.
La Porte Hospital has been designated the first Magnet hospital in Northwest Indiana and the second in the state of Indiana. In order to be awarded Magnet status La Porte Hospital went through the process of rigorous self-assessment, documentation of how each standard is met along with a site visit and review. The designation of Magnet status is a four-year term.
“La Porte Hospital is dedicated and committed to be caring and compassionate healthcare providers for our patients, families and co-workers,” states Linda Satkoski, MSA, BS, RN, Vice President of Patient Care Services, Chief Nursing Officer. “It is because of our nursing excellence that our patients and their families continue to acknowledge La Porte Hospital as the best place to be for quality patient care. A successful nursing program is dependent on the collaboration with members or our healthcare team. This is created by frequent and open communication between staff and senior management, the involvement of the nursing staff in major nursing job changes, and a commitment to positive patient outcomes. Our ability to attract and retain quality healthcare providers is the foundation on which the Magnet designation was built.”
