SMH lab earns re-accreditation from The Joint Commission

Once again, the Starke Memorial Hospital (SMH) Laboratory earned the Gold Seal of Approval™ from The Joint Commission.

The distinction resulted after The Joint Commission conducted an extensive on-site review in January. Surveyors evaluated the Laboratory’s performance in complying with nearly 300 standards related to quality control, safety, infection control, leadership, management of human resources, management of information, ongoing performance improvement activities and other processes.

Director of Laboratory Services Nina Piwtorak said, “Starke Memorial Hospital continually strives to improve our quality of services for the benefit of patients. Through this re-accreditation, we are honored for demonstrating our compliance with national standards for health care quality and safety.”
