Cardiac Universal Bed (CUB)
A new standard in cardiac care offers patients the ability to stay in the same bed from admission to discharge. The Cardiac Universal Bed (CUB) concept is designed as a spacious, home-like environment furnished with a DVD player, private bath and equipped with Internet access for family members. Every CUB room has state-of-the-art medical equipment and bedside charting for the nursing staff. There are several nursing stations, each positioned to closely monitor two patient rooms without disturbing the patient.
Visitation
Open family visitation is encouraged to aid cardiac patients in their recovery. When visiting, we ask that you please:- Check-in with the staff in the Heart Center
- Understand at some point you may be asked to leave the room so the patient can be cared for in private
- Refrain from visiting if you have a cold or infection
- Determine if visitation is suitable for infants and children
- Allow the patient to rest and sleep
Family Waiting Area
Make yourself at home in the Heart Center waiting area. A nourishment center, microwave, videos, music and games are provided to make your stay comfortable as well. Towels, washcloths, toothbrushes, toothpaste, pillows, and blankets are available upon request for use if you choose to spend the night in our waiting area.For more information on the CUB unit of The Heart Center at La Porte Regional Health System, please call (219) 326-2511.
