Diagnostice Imaging

The Diagnostic Imaging and Radiology services at La Porte Regional Health System provide a full range of quality imaging services that meet the needs of our community, close to home. Procedures may be performed on an inpatient, outpatient or emergency basis twenty-four hours a day.

We are dedicated to providing the latest innovations in imaging technology that help physicians assess, diagnose and treat various medical conditions. Today’s advancements allow physicians to differentiate between cancerous (malignant) and non-cancerous (benign) growths and tumors, locate exact blockages in blood vessels, analyze and measure bone density or injuries, and examine the electrical activity and source of seizures in the brain.

Our experienced staff is dedicated to providing you with only the highest standards of care ensuring your procedure is effective, comprehensive, compassionate, and convenient. Our technologies include: the linear accelerator located in our Center for Cancer Therapy, PET Imaging System, Heart Scan, MRI Services and our cutting-edge Interventional Radiology services.

PACS (Picture Archiving Communications System) Technology

La Porte Regional Health System is proud to use PACS, a patient record system that digitally acquires, stores and retrieves diagnostic images from:
     • CT
     • MR and HDMR
     • X-ray
     • Ultrasound
     • Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT
     • Mammography

PACS allows us to digitize medical images and process them for reading by a radiologist, in a fraction of the time it takes to process film. These images can be viewed by radiologists from a PACS workstation anywhere in the hospital. Additionally, patient images and radiologist’s reports can securely be distributed on-demand through the Internet for referring physicians to review.

PACS is comprised of a combination of workstations, servers, and online and offline storage systems networked together and integrated into the hospital’s infrastructure. The servers and
storage systems link the images to the patient data and provide long-term secure storage
and archiving.

Referring physicians can access these images and the radiologists’ reports over the web. No longer do patients have to wait for films to be manually passed through the diagnostic process; diagnosis can be delivered faster and patient care can be started sooner.

La Porte Regional Health System continues to exceed the expectations of those we serve and promote a healthier community.
