La Porte Hospital’s Clinical Laboratory is accredited by both the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) and the College of American Pathologists (CAP). Both accreditations required an intensive, on-site assessment by specially trained assessors, and establishes the level of medical, technical and administrative performance within the facility meets or exceeds the standards set by AABB and CAP.

AABB accreditation is the designation of choice for blood banking, transfusion medicine, blood management and cellular therapies. It demonstrates La Porte Hospital’s commitment to advanced learning, continuous improvement and innovation by striving to sustain the highest possible level of patient and donor care.

LabThe Commissions on Laboratory Accreditation of the College of American Pathologists (CAP), is designated to examine all of the laboratory’s processes including records, procedures, quality control, quality improvement initiatives, safety programs, facilities, and overall management of the laboratory. This stringent inspection program is designed to specifically assure the highest standard of care for the laboratory’s patients. Dr. Bryan Cunningham, Medical Director, was notified of this national accreditation and was congratulated for the “excellence of the services being provided.”
