La Porte Regional Health System has a team of board-certified obstetricians on staff to suit your needs. The offices are conveniently located in La Porte and Michigan City.

Preparation Classes

The Maternal Care Center of La Porte Regional Health System offers a number programs to assist all members of the family. Advance registration is required and class sizes are limited. • Childbirth Preparation
  Our experienced nursing staff provides information to help couples prepare for the childbirth experience. Three-week courses and Saturday classes are available. Fathers or significant others are encouraged to attend.
• Breastfeeding Class
  Our Certified Lactation Consultant is on staff to teach this three-hour class, which covers a variety of techniques, problem-solving skills to help with breastfeeding. She also provides information to the working mother; the benefits of breastfeeding, breastfeeding management and other tips will assist in the process.
• Big Sister, Big Brother Preparation Class
  This class is designed to help prepare children, ages 3-9, for the changes that come with the birth of a new brother or sister. It is recommended that the child attend this course as close to the mother’s due date as possible.
• Baby and Me
  This two-hour class provides moms information to help care for herself and her baby after delivery and once discharged from the hospital. It is recommended that parents attend this class as close to their due date as possible.
