Labor & Delivery
The birth of a child is one of the most memorable moments in a person’s life. Our Obstetrics staff at La Porte Regional Health System wants to share in your joy during this special time. With over 100 years of combined experience, our team is here to assure that you and your baby are comfortable during your stay.
Our spacious Labor-Delivery-Recovery birthing suites were designed with comfort in mind. These private rooms are equiped with everything necessary to assist in the safe arrival of your baby.
Fathers play an important role in a child’s life. New fathers are welcome to spend the night if they would prefer. At the Maternal Care Center, we encourage rooming-in. New parents may have their baby with them as much as they desire. We also understand labor and delivery is an exhaustive experience; we will care for babies in the nursery, allowing time for parents to rest.
Our goal is to assist parents in becoming completely confident in caring for their baby. While staying at the hospital, parents can learn to identify the unique behaviors of their baby and identify ways to respond to their cues and needs. Our experienced nursing staff will coach parents in their new roles.
Visiting hours are from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Fathers, siblings, grandparents or a support person are welcome to visit anytime. For more information, call (219) 326-2373. Michigan City residents call (219) 872-3331, extension 2373.
