Every second counts. Stroke is a medical emergency. Know the warnings signs of a stroke and teach them to others.

Stroke sudden warning signs:
      • Numbness or weakness of the face,  arm or leg, especially on one side of the body
      • Confusion, trouble speaking or understanding
      • Trouble seeing in one or both eyes
      • Trouble walking, dizziness, loss of  balance or coordination
      • Severe headache with no known cause

Call 911 immediately if you experience symptoms! Time lost is brain lost!

      • Obesity
      • Smoking
      • High blood pressure
      • High cholesterol

Risk factors that may increase stroke risk in women:
      • Migraines with visual disturbances          such as flashing dots or blind spots
      • Poor diet
      • Diabetes
      • Birth control pills
      • Hormone replacement therapy
      • Atrial fibrillation
      • More than one miscarriage
      • Clotting disorders including a previous history of clots in the legs (deep vein          thrombosis) and livedo reticularis (a mottled purplish discoloration of the skin)

The Stroke support group meets on the third Thursday of the month providing patients, family members and caregivers the chance to be with others who are learning how to live with the effects of surviving a stroke. Our goal is to provide support, education, encouragement and the essential coping skills for a healthier lifestyle mentally, physically and spiritually. Click here to view our calendar.
